Superintendent's Message
Welcome to the School District 17 website. I hope that you find this website to be a useful tool and an appropriate link to a variety of useful information. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with our district by clicking on the various headings.
Our faculty of approximately 375 teachers and numerous support staff strive to provide a quality education for the 4800 students of School District 17. We know that a focus on student learning is essential and teachers will provide meaningful lessons to ensure that kids of all ages are engaged in the learning process. As 21st century learners, our students will have an opportunity to gain skills in communication, collaboration, citizenship, higher order thinking and problem solving…skills that are essential for successful adaptation to the “real world”.
Respectful and clear communication is a priority in our district. There is a framework established that helps support the resolution of concerns that may arise. We are confident that questions and/or concerns will be answered or resolved in an appropriate manner.
