School Immunization Programs and Schedule 2012-2013

This is a summary of vaccines that will be offered by public health to middle and high school students in New Brunswick in 2012-2013. These vaccines are given to school age children through school based immunization clinics held at all middle and high schools.

Grade 7 and 8
Adacel vaccine

  • This vaccine offers protection against tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis (whooping cough)

Grade 7 Females
Gardasil vaccine helps to protect against infection caused by 4 types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV). These types of HPV infection are responsible for most cervical cancer cases in Canada.

Gardasil vaccine is given in three doses;
First dose: At chosen date.
Second dose: 2 months after the first dose.
Third dose: 6 months after the first dose.

Grade 9
Menveo vaccine

  • The quadrivalent conjugate vaccine (Menveo) offers protection against Meningococcal Disease, serogroups A, C, Y and W-135.

Adacel vaccine

  • This vaccine offers protection against tetanus, diptheria, and pertussis (whooping cough)
